After getting down the pecking order to Tim Wallace (by my guesstimate: the 10th-12th most likely opponent to challenge him), Steckel's hand-picked opponent tossed him around like a giant powder puff.

The morale of the story for Dave Steckel is this: If you want to be a lamb, be a full-time lamb. Don't try to save face against a lesser opponent, only to get embarrassed.

Besides...look at him. Just look at him.garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18390337286772352264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29664856.post-69438730441876937972011-02-13T22:55:06.476-05:002011-02-13T22:55:06.476-05:00At no point have I said I agreed with ANYTHING the...At no point have I said I agreed with ANYTHING the Isles did. It was as big a joke as I've seen (and the NHL is awesome at producing jokes of the wrong sort). If it was about Talbot's hit, that is another black eye on that joke of a franchise. That's as perfect a hit as you can have. Not a thing dirty about it.

My only comment for Steckel was that he didn't even do anything wrong to have to "answer the bell" for, same way Steve Moore didn't need to when he cleanly hit Marcus Naslund back in the day (though interestingly, he answered the bell, won the fight vs. Canucks goon and then got dummied anyways...ahh "the code"). Difference here is I don't think anybody or too many would have called Steckel's a "hit". Collision? Yes.TBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00544648114168755444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29664856.post-10268760930179489232011-02-13T22:49:35.174-05:002011-02-13T22:49:35.174-05:00so this hit here:

(Not to mention the method of "retribution" was a bit ridiculous...even in the most arbitrary of eyes.)

But the Penguins can't approach Steckel about a 1-on-1 fight after knocking out their best player?

Odd. Double standard, but odd.garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18390337286772352264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29664856.post-16650941516241000232011-02-13T22:40:25.893-05:002011-02-13T22:40:25.893-05:00Guess you don't know the difference between a ...Guess you don't know the difference between a "hit" and a "collision". Steckel wasn't even looking at Crosby, and as the video notes below, was trying to get up ice which is what every indication is in his movement (never seen anybody try to hit somebody while their body was moving in the opposite direction), and nevermind the legion of actual legit hockey writers that noticed that too, but you take Cherry's word? Good stuff. Guess you didn't notice that Sidney skated INTO Steckel, not the other way around? I know, it gets tough watching the game when you watch both sides but with years of practice, it is doable.

That piece of shit Cooke lines up guys (insert name "here") for kill shots (something the blind can see). Big difference. Except he wears Pens colours. Hall pass granted by you.

Stay loyal. Blindly so.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEqTNHz7CaM&feature=fvwrelTBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00544648114168755444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29664856.post-63142115414424084572011-02-13T20:34:54.110-05:002011-02-13T20:34:54.110-05:00a blind side hit to the head of a player not playi...a blind side hit to the head of a player not playing the puck is "nothing" wrong.

i guess Cooke's hit on Savard last year was fine, too.

Neither player got suspended.

Bottom line: Steckel saw a chance for a cheapshot on Crosby, and he took it. Even Cooke-hater Don Cherry noticed that one.garyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18390337286772352264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29664856.post-42599984570126581132011-02-13T18:35:16.485-05:002011-02-13T18:35:16.485-05:00Except Steckel did nothing wrong, something anybod...Except Steckel did nothing wrong, something anybody remotely impartial would see.TBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00544648114168755444noreply@blogger.com
