I think we lost Yast?!? HAHA! "Lost Yast." That rhymed.
This should make his Top 100 videos...and it should probably be #1.
...randomness surrounding Guided by Voices, Robert Pollard, and other great indie rock bands; a quasi objective look at "my" sporting teams; the random horror film; plus other crap as we see fit...all with a Pittsburgh based feel.

GBV Tribute Album
Really pumpt about this! NoMoreFakeLabels, the self-described "anti-label," is releasing this amazing tribute to the greatest band of all time. Curated by Misty Dawn, the album is called Sing For Your Meat and will be released on Record Store Day - April 16th, 2011. The Flaming Lips, Lou Barlow, Elf Power, and Thurston Moore are just a few of the artists who will pay homage to Guided By Voices. FCKYA!

Times New Viking moves to Merge
i love these kids. New record Dancer Equired will be released on Merge Records in April. Kind of a different sound from TNV, but I likeys. Really cool video that appears to have a bit of effort behind it...

Lifeguards - Waving at the Astronauts
the new Lifeguards album is out Feb 15th. Lifeguards is Robert Pollard and Doug Gillard and they are great. This is the first Pollard / Gillard collaboration since GBV called it quits in 2004, and together...they are magic. I got a sneak preview of this album last week, and it's definitely a must have...
LIFEGUARDS - Paradise Is Not So Bad by seriousbusiness
The vinyl (with download) or CD version is available on Serious Business Records HERE. There is also a limited edition 7" of track #4 "Product Head" w/ b-side: "Naught Windsor." Don't be a ponce...buy this now.
Also recently arrived, fresh from the Factory of Raw Essentials, the first of 5 (?!?) to be released records from Pollard in 2011...

Super Bowl Sunday Schedule
The couch and the broiler will get a workout on Sunday, February 6th...
11:00 A.M - LIVERPOOL visits Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea (wankers). Fox Soccer Channel. Kenny the King continues the revival of my Reds. Stevie G will be back from suspension. Raul Meireles is on fire. Torres looks rejuvenated. I see an inspirational effort here.
Meireles' cracker on Saturday...
12:30 P.M. - PENS at Caps (wankers). NBC Game of the Week. Pierre McGuire can't even bring me down for this one. David Steckel will probably get killed here. Bruce Boudreau will react by eating.
With the Liverpool / Chelsea match winding down, the DVR will be utilized here for an estimated 10 minutes. Catch-up by the 1st intermission should not be a problem.
2:30 - INTER MILAN v. Roma at the San Siro. Fox Soccer Channel. As of now, Roma (3rd) stands 3 pts ahead of Inter (5th), and with trips to Juve and Fiorentina looming, this is 3 BIG points. If new manager Leonardo has any hopes of catching AC Milan (+9 pts), the run must start now. Admittedly, seeing that ponce Ibra hoist the Scudetto would be a bitter pill. But after the abysmal start Rafa got this club off to, I'd settle for a Champions League spot.
what a dick...
Again...the DVR will be utilized here as the Pens wind down their WINNER.
5:00 (approx) - Super Bowl XLV pregame hype, blah, blah, blah.
6:25 - Super Bowl STEELERS v. Packers. Fox. FOX!!! YAY!! No Phil Simms!!! YAY!!! The quest for #7 for the greatest NFL franchise begins.
"Please have me back Pittsburgh!!! PLEASE!!! Don't hate me! Bring me back to a WINNER! I'm sorry I smoked the pot!!!!!" ~ Santonio
Although the photo doesn't show it, I think he was on his knees.

I couldn't care less about the Jets strug-gl-ing
** Thanks to our favorite blog on the cyber planet...Pensblog...for the gif. You should be reading it daily, already **
Speaking of the Pens, HUGE 2 points over Carolina this Saturday. Every 2 points minus Sid and Geno is HUGE. Post game...Marc-Andre Fleury sporting the Stiller helmet. CLASSIC...
Hate on Fleury's game all you want. But if you don't like this kid, you're simply not human. You probably also hate pizza, puppy dogs, and Swedish Fish.

YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG!!!!
so Archers of Loaf played their first show since 1998, opening for The Love Language (yes...the same Love Language who was just opening up for GBV) at the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill.
thanks to mumblepop for that.
The only place on this earth I would have rather been last Saturday than the Cat's Cradle would have been in Lousville to see GBV...

"Journalist" David Shoalts
Updating a previous post...

~ David Shoalts, Monday via the Globe and the Mail:
"The word filtering out of the Pittsburgh Penguins is that Crosby is an angry young man, angry enough to pull his considerable star presence from one of the league’s showcase events because he does not think the NHL is doing enough to protect its players. An NHL source said Crosby is not likely to tell the NHL he is withdrawing from the all-star game to protest the fact neither player who hit him on the head was suspended."
~ David Shoalts, Tuesday via his personal twitter page:
Clarification on the fuss around Crosby: It was my opinion that he was angry enough to consider skipping the all-star game. about 20 hours ago via TweetDeckIn a related story: Team Journalism has since cut loose Mr. Shoalts, and he was later picked up off waivers by Team Hate.
NHL picks All-Star Captains
Team Lidstrom vs. Team (Eric) Staal. Two very worthy captains were chosen by the NHL Players Association.
The word filtering out of the Hater Camp is that Crosby cried. David Shoalts from the Globe and Mail has probably confirmed this with an NHL Source.

GBV Iowa City!!
the next "Classic Line-up" show has been announced!!!
SATURDAY - APRIL 2nd. We are there.
EC is thinking this will give Bob and the boys time to practice "Pantherz", "He's the Uncle", "Why Did You Land?", and a few other re-introductory nuggets :)
Perhaps Thurston Moore will join GBV on stage for "Stabbing a Star", a track he submitted on the upcoming GBV-Tribute album? Probably not...but contemplating is fun.

BOY!!!
so I was watching the 1983 classic Valley Girl last night for some reason, when I was reminded of this Eddy Grant gem...
surely, this would have made Yast's Top 100 of all time...had the list not been abandoned after 3 songs. No commitment.
btw: it was concluded that Deborah Foreman (aka: Muffy and Buffy in April Fool's Day), despite being a cooze by dumping Randy for that turd Tommy, was pretty hot in her day...
like...for sure.

Martin Luther King Day...
has motivated me to get this stupid blog going again (after a half-assed attempt by our pal Yast).
play loud...
TNV played a kick ass set at Headliners in Louisville this Saturday, opening for the beloved GBV, a set list which included (to my obnoxious delight) the requested "Natural Resources, I Love Mine."
Much more to come on these here pages in future weeks, including some highlights of the last 4+ months of just-exactly-what-the-hell-we-been-upto

The Bowl Season is the Best
What a classic Rose Bowl Game Presented by Vizio that was. Certainly more entertaining than the Outback Bowl Presented by Outback Steakhouse, though, maybe not as good as the Peach Chick-Fil-A Bowl.

A New Year's Resolution
Gary makes this promise every year, and blows it. So, it's my turn...
EC will be updated everyday this year or Gary is getting kicked in the nutz.
However, this first 100 days of the year will be easy, as I'm releasing my highly anticipated personal list of favorite music videos. Gary will love this...
