My loyalties lie with #87. Quite simply, I want Sid to sport a Stanley Cup AND a Gold prior to that turd Ovechkin.

Plus...I'm a sucker for passionate fans. And they have that hands down up North.

Yeah, but you're American.

I concur. But I just really like Canada. (ordered my jersey and everything)

GO CANADA GO!!

Gary, First off, your buddy Tirp is right...YOU ARE AMERICAN. Support your country. As far as being Passionate, USA hockey and thier fans have so much more passion than Canada could ever have. Canadiens suck. Especially French Canadiens. I could give a flying fuck if Toews or Crosby or any other Canadien wins gold. USA. Worry about Ovechkin by knocking them out of the playoffs. Don't sell out your country for one fuck. Very dissapointed. GO USA

Scuttlebutt suggests Gary is also not cheering for the U.S. at the World Cup this summer.

I mean, I hate Landycakes as much as the next guy but . . .

Sid is the epitome of a human being. I simply can not root against him. We're naming our first 5 kids after him.

Have yinz seen the 3 lines for Canada??

Nash/Crosby/Iginla
The Sharks Line
Staal/Getzlaf/Perry

effin sick. they've even got those Flyer turds Pronger and Richards :)

The only thing that could've made Team Canada any better would've been to keep J Staal over Morrow...simply to PK. But I'm feeling pretty confident with said squad as is. GO CANADA GO!!!

And USA Soccer will never get my support as long as Landyjag is on the squad.

gary said...

actually, it's much simpler than that for me...

i wanna see Ovie (loser) shake hands with Sid (winner) again. Nothing better.

by this:

Staal/Getzlaf/Perry

you mean

Staal/Getzlaf/Perryjag ... right?

he's in landycake territory.

gbvh said...

You have to understand USA Soccer's top priority is "on-field improvement" and, further, "winning."

Landycakes, no matter how you slice him, is a helluva player.

The man at the top would get canned in a heartbeat if he was left off the U.S. roster.

gbvh said...

Wait ... wait ... "Epitome of a human being?"

I just upchucked.

gbvh said...

Careful, if Sid reads this he's gonna thing "Gary" is some 12-year-old girl.

Pretty jacked for when he leaves Pitt, though, and plays the Pens in a different jersey. I'm thinking Flyer orange might look sharp.

gary said...

Sid in a Flyer jersey!! HA! Now that's funny. they'd have to strip Richards of the "C" and relegate him to the 2nd line :)

But seriously...in a sporting world filled with douche bags, morons, criminals, and cheaters...I'm unsure how anyone can not like #87. The dude not only plays the game with respect, but treats everyone he crosses with the utmost dignity. No matter how many mics and cams are in his face, he's pure class. He's one of the most sought after athletes in the world, yet he devotes cray amounts of time to charity and community. If ever an athlete could be a role model...it's him.

I know what you'll say..he's programmed. Well, kudos to the programmer as well, I guess.

When I think about the things they sell me as Sid's personality, I think words like nice, classy, dull and inoffensive.

I guess Pete Sampras is the "epitome of human being" too.

In today's athletic world, where players feel the need to draw attention to themselves for the most trivial of achievements, i.e. pounding your chest after making a routine tackle, i really appreciate dull and inoffensive. Dignity and respect is refreshing to me.

gbvh said...

If that's the troof, you would not be a big fan of chest-pounders like, say, Gerrard.
For starters. I could go on....

gbvh said...

I'm done. You win.

Regards,
Nice, Classy, Dull, Inoffensive Guy

Are there any specific athletes you admire? And if so, why?

First off i love Sid and agree with the G-man, though being a US citizen i'm still pulling for the stars and stripes and now i must agree with gvbh, Landycakes is a helluva player and he's proving it even more with Everton, if he gets hurt we might as well watch the fucking Pirates in june cuz without him the US is in big trouble even if we get all our players (dempsey, davies, gooch) back, i could find four guys in a bar and have a better midfield than what he field these days and Bob Bradley is a complete and total Knob, i'll buy everyone a beer the day he's fired.

if the US doesn't get past the group stage in the WC, there's gonna be a lot of people who feel the same way.

i get LD's talent level...I just don't care for the demeanor.
