Mountain Goats - TONIGHT at Mr Smalls

Plenty of good seats still available. Bring the whole family.

I've got a few albums from the Mountain Goats, but I've never been able to catch them live. The only time I've seen MG leader John Darnielle perform in person was last fall in Brooklyn when he sang back-up for Superchunk on "Digging for Something." The addition of Jon Wurster to the MG line-up in 2007 is a welcome one for me. Jon is one of my favorite drummers of all-time, so that'll be a special treat for us tonight. Also looking forward to picking up their new record All Eternals Deck, which was released a couple of weeks ago.  It is available through Merge Records (free shipping).  Buy the vinyl and get a free download.  Do it.

Megafun opens at 8:00 (doors at 7).

From 2008's Heretic Pride...

From my favorite MG album that I own, Get Lonely, this is "Woke Up New"...

I can't believe it, in less than 3 hours my girlfriend and I will be at Mr. Smalls to see the band that has defined our ever turbulent, always dramatic, relationship over the last year. 5 weeks estranged, 3 weeks reunited, and tonight it all comes (back) together. Now I know how adolescent girls felt when The Beatles first hit the States?? Insert Jesus Christ into that British borne entourage and you've a more accurate description of what this means to me? I've listened to nothing but John and his music for the last 39 months now. Tonight I'm "Going to Millvale" (sic) with the woman I've turned my life over to in the last year's time, the Alpha Female to my Alpha Male.......
......(Sorry, just had to beam with excitement)........

A really fun show!! I hope your enthusiasm met expectations. We were very pleased.

Seems like he regretted asking for requests, once people started shouting them out all night :)
